Crow in solidarity

Seeking to send Washington a big message Crow will join Wikipedia, Reddit, Craigslist, Graham Hancock, Boingboing, and many others by not posting on Wednesday January 18th. Susan will not be blacking out her blog since she's entirely unsure that

1. anybody would notice
2. that she might never figure out how to undo a blackout

but it's kind of important to pay attention to this stuff. You can check out the news here or just watch the video if you haven't seen it yet.

Over the weekend the Stop Online Piracy Act legislation was delayed as 'outstanding concerns' needed to be addressed. This doesn't mean the law has been defeated but only that it could return once a consensus has been reached. That's why many sites will participate in a scheduled blackout tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Crow swears he isn't going to be soused and falling off his perch, that he will instead be enjoying the sober company of his friends:

  1. Notsure howtoturn off blogs for a day either. Still what the US does affects us all.

    I love the Crowboarding!

  2. Go Crow! Let's start a new movement ... Occupy the Internet! :-)

  3. Another good thing: Occupy Congress was today, though you wouldn't know it by attending to mainstream news. I'm off now to dig for specifics.

A crow snow sliding on a jar cap - who could have guessed! Delightful! :-)

  4. jams - Yes, the proposed internet legislation would have powerful repercussions.

Crows just like to have fun.

francis - I thought we were occupying it - or at least preoccupied by it.

gina - I'm so fed up with the msm I could spit. News coverage was far better when it was of shorter duration and informative.

Yes, if he'd done it only once it would have been an anomaly but doing over again was a true delight to watch.

  5. I don't know how to black out my blog either, but I'm with them in spirit. And how clever of Crow to discover snowboarding!

  6. Why are you opposed to SOPA anyway? I’m on the side of musicians and copyright holders generally.

  7. When Sophie and I watched the crow video, we thought of you!

  8. marja-leena - I think being with them in spirit is fine. Wasn't that a great video?

vincent - I'm on the side of writers and musicians too but the SOPA legislation as written is far too vague and would allow for general censorship. You should have a look at my link or watch the video.

lisa - I certainly hope so.

  9. Thank you, Crow. And thank you for the last video too. It's amazing.

I read that the actions of the day were having an impact in Washington. Here's hoping!

  10. We give credit to dogs and cats for intelligence - but nothing compared to crows and ravens. They not only problem solve, but have the ability to communicate within the murder and have higher level thinking skills that can allow them to invent games for fun. The research on crows is interesting and worth following.
    the Ol'Buzzard

by the way; good post - i agree.

  11. Why did Crow cross the road?

PUNCHLINE UNAVAILABLE DUE TO UNAUTHORIZED LINKING TO COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL

  12. @ Vincent:
In case I do seem impertinent: it is intended. And thus I do repeat what I wrote at Francis'.
I am on the side of musicians / artists, too. Still, I do not agree with you.
Actually, I am kind of glad that there seems to be at least one topic on this planet you've not have had the time, yet, to thoroughly inform yourself about.
    The peace of the night.

  13. lydia - We're both glad you enjoyed the delightful video - yes, amazing is the word. Let's hope this legislation gets the reaction it deserves. Do you also get the feeling we're always fighting rearguard actions?

ol'buzzard - The more I know about crows in the world the happier I am that Crow has been a long-term friend.

randal - Time Warner better not catch you singing Happy Birthday in public either - not that I can imagine you doing so.

sean - I was surprised Vincent hadn't picked up on the ramifications too but I have confidence in him.

  17. linda - I knew what you meant :-) Crow and I share a love for red boots although he does have footwear in many colors (unlike me). I hate politics too. In fact, I'm beginning to wonder if all the republican candidates aren't plants to make Obama look good.
    xoxo

spadoman - Nice to see you've been by. Sorry my posting has been infrequent of late. I hope you're well.
    Peace
