lying low

I hate not feeling well but I guess it's best to admit it and hope for a better day tomorrow. In the past three weeks I've had two surgeries to fix the tissue around a couple of dental implants. The first one became infected making it necessary to have a second surgery once the antibiotics had done their job. It may have been too soon because now I'm swollen worse than the first time and I'm getting bored  lying on the couch wrapped up in a shawl.

Maybe Crow will come by this evening and tell me another story.

At least he's been good about sharing the brandy.

I'll be back making visits soon.

  1. Oh, what a horrid situation, susan! I am so sorry to hear of this.

Perhaps if Crow does not come, I could sit and hold your paw (er, um, hand — hold your hand).

    Blessings and Bear hugs!

    1. Crow was here but holding paws with you might have made the ordeal pass a little faster :)

  2. Discomfort around the teeth and gums can bring your whole day down. I hope you're feeling better soon. And of course I'm glad that Crow's watching over you.

    1. Yes, dental work can be just a little too close to that little person in the head who thinks he runs things. I know you know and wish it weren't so.

    1. I'm feeling much better now and tomorrow the still uncomfortable sutures come out. I despise mushy food :) I did spend much awake time reading - and one book I'd recommend to you or your granddaughters would be Railsea by China Mieville. It was an amazing and delightful book.

Sorry about misspelling Rudi Hurzlmeier who I'm sure you remember.

  4. Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Susan. Brandy make a great mouthwash, you know.

  5. So does warm green tea - antibacterial, anti-inflammatory properties, as well.

    1. Thanks for that idea. Green tea is my husband's favorite but he didn't mind sharing.

  6. So very sorry to hear you are in pain, Susan. Of late I have found that a pain-killer followed by brandy helps. Pain is so debilitating - which is why French hospitals (at least where we live) are serious about pain management. Hoping you get well, very soon.

    1. Thanks for your good wishes, Tom. Pain tends to be something that forces one right into the here and now, doesn't it? Most pain meds disagree with my system so I was left with ibuprofen and cold packs. I feel much better now.

  8. ouch....you know, whenever I am sick.... I take two jokes and get some rest.

A turkey walks into a bar. The bartender says…Sorry, we don’t serve food in here.

    ok.... one more....

A gas station in Halifax was trying to increase it's sales. So the owner put up a sign saying "Free Sex With Fill-Up."

Soon a Canadian pulls in, fills his tank, and then asks for his free sex.

The gas attendent tells him pick to a number from 1 to 10 if he guesses correctly, he will get his free sex.

    The Canadian says, "7"

The gas attendent says, "You were close, sir, but the number was 6. Sorry, no sex this time."

A week later, the same Canadian, along with his buddy, pulls in for a fill up. Again he asks for his free sex and again the gas attendent gives him the same story and asks him to guess the correct number.

    The Canadian says, "5"

The gas attendent says, "Sorry,it was 4. You were so close, but no free sex this time."

As they were driving away, the Canadian says to his buddy, "I think that game is rigged and he doesn't really give away free sex."

The buddy replies,"No, it ain't rigged. My wife won twice last week."

    .... now get some rest.

  10. Susan, what in the world? ...... I am so sorry to have not been by and to just now be aware of your surgeries. I definitely can empathize, having had oral surgery in the past (only once, though) and it was a real ordeal. It is difficult for the mouth to heal, takes patience and requires all these good remedies being mentioned here. Please continue to take special care. Spend lots of time with Crow and know better days are ahead.
