march is spring's yawn

Tourist: Good afternoon.

Shepherd: Eh, 'tis that.

Tourist: You here on holiday?

Shepherd: Nope, I live 'ere.

Tourist: Oh, good for you. Uh...those ARE sheep aren't they?

Shepherd: Yeh.

Tourist: Hmm, thought they were. Only, what are they doing up in the trees?

Shepherd: A fair question and one that in recent weeks 'as been much on my mind. It's my considered opinion that they're nestin'.

Tourist: Nesting?

Shepherd: Aye.

Tourist: Like birds?

Shepherd: Exactly. It's my belief that these sheep are laborin' under the misapprehension that they're birds. Observe their be'avior. Take for a start the sheeps' tendency to 'op about the field on their 'ind legs. Now witness their attempts to fly from tree to tree. Notice that they do not so much fly as...plummet.

From Monty Python.

We all have days when instead of soaring we plunge. I'm trying not to let it get me down.

  1. But Crow has wings which will open to the wind and carry you back up again. Isn't that what he did that night in London, when you were plunging because the foolish gallery owners couldn't see the value of your art?

  2. I love that passage. It made me feel better about several things I'm rather down about right now.

I don't know about you but Crow's fly south with the condors isn't exactly cheering me up. Peru sounds very good to me right now.

Hugs to you, dear Susan. Spring will come and that will help.

  3. I do not have feathers or words to buoy you and yet I am happy to run around like a wild weasel under your tree hoping to make you laugh or smile or to be there on the ground should you need someone to show you what its like living low on the ground. xo

  7. Yep, we all have those days. But like a bird, we all just need to take flight once again.

pagan sphinx - Peru sounds good to me too right about now.. of course, it always has and sometimes i get a little jealous of Crow's wings.

belette - Just reading that made me laugh out loud. You are surely a sweet weasel.

linda - I remember laughing so hard at Monty Python sketches I'd sometimes miss what they said. They still have the magic.

randal - I had a breakthrough yesterday so I'm working on a few things. Thanks for the offer :-)

:D wolf - I hope you feel better and just to help a little I have 2 words for you: Parrot Sketch.

lol - It was more creative block than anything else and I'm over it now. The only person who cares if I ever paint another picture is me :-)

ben - Nanna looks formidable because that's my uncle Tony :-)

gfid - Wow! I never knew you were so close to Dr. Freud. That's good advice and I'll hasten to act on it soon. Meanwhile, I hope you're dug out by now.

  11. GFD can I make an appointment. It's the ugliest time of the year. And just 90 miles north of us it snowed 18 inches and it's headed our way.

I'm provisioned and hunkered down. I saw lamb chops at the market today. Stood there drooling like a wolf.

  16. An Irishman was walking through the cemetery when he came upon a headstone inscribed: 'Here lies a politician and an honest man.'

'Boys -a-dear,' he said, 'I wonder how they got the two of them in the one grave?'
